 In addition to a BBA degree in Finance and Economics from Baylor University, Scott holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation from The Wharton School of Business and the Chartered Private Wealth AdvisorSM (CPWA®) designation, both sponsored by the Investment Management Consulting Association (IMCA).Scott began his career in New York in 1989 with Chase Manhattan Investment Services, where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm’s privately-managed accounts and trading operations. He moved to Dallas with Chase in 1992 and began working with a fee-based rather than a commission-based structure.While at Chase, Scott was recognized for his many accomplishments. Despite starting his tenure as a junior employee without an existing book of business, he still managed to become one of the top ten producers out of 100 consultants in the nationwide network.
After Chase was purchased by Chemical Bank, Scott transitioned in 1996 to Lockwood Financial. While Lockwood shared Scott’s investment philosophy and maintained a platform that allowed Scott to deliver conflict-free advice, the firm still had limitations that precluded Scott from providing his clients all that he wanted to provide. As a result, Scott set out to open his own independent firm and in the year 2000, Scott joined with Mark Gehlbach to form True North Advisors, L.L.C. Personally, Scott focuses on his family and enjoys giving back to his community. He is committed to health and fitness as well as to his faith. Scott is a member of The Salesmanship Club of Dallas and is involved in his three young daughters’ activities – as a soccer coach and YMCA Indian Princess dad.
