Selection for this award is based on submissions from wealth management firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth chapters of the Financial Planning Association® and the Investment Management Consultants Association®. The final list was selected based on these criteria: top firms must have total assets under management for individual clients of at least $100 million; a 95 percent client retention rate in the last two years; no current disciplinary action; and at least five years of experience. They must also be a fiduciary for their clients, and their compensation model cannot be commission-based. A panel of local wealth managers reviewed the final list. D Magazine: Best Financial Planners in Dallas (2010-2022)

Selection for this award is based on online ballots cast by members of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Financial Planners Association. Outside-firm votes counted more than inside-firm votes then a panel of esteemed local financial planners reviewed the final list. Neither the award winners nor their employees pay a fee to D Magazine in exchange for inclusion in the Best Financial Planners in Dallas list.

Dallas Business Journal: Best Places to Work (2019, 2021, 2022)

List inclusion is based on an indexed score created via employee responses to a survey conducted by Quantum Workplace. The list of winners was reduced to 100 from the several hundred companies nominated to take part in the event. The companies were divided into five categories by size: Micro (10-24 employees), Small (25-49 employees), Medium (50-249 employees), Large (250-999 employees) and Extra Large (1,000-plus employees). The survey asks employees questions about culture, benefits, career paths and more. A selection to the list is not necessarily indicative of any particular client’s experience. Dallas Business Journal: Torch Award for Ethics (2019)

List inclusion is based on having a physical presence in one of the following North Texas regions: Cooke, Grayson, Fannin, Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, Hunt, Collin, Denton, Rockwall, Dallas, Kaufman and Ellis counties. The business must be open for 3 years or more and be in good standing with BBB with at least a “B” rating to be considered for the award. Twenty Finalists were selected for spots in six categories (determined by number of local employees and non-profits) companies were evaluated on the “integrity and ethics behind business dealings” as demonstrated by their policies, education, business-to-business recommendations, customer reviews and financial track-record, among many other criteria. InvestmentNews: Best Places to Work for Financial Advisers (2018–2022)

List inclusion is based on InvestmentNews new recognition program to identify and recognize financial advisory firms that empower employees to provide clients with the best possible investment and financial planning advice. Eligibility requirements are to be a registered investment adviser or affiliated with an independent broker-dealer, be in business for a minimum of one year, and have a minimum of 15 full time employees. The survey asks employees questions about culture, benefits, career paths and more. A selection to the list is not necessarily indicative of any particular client’s experience. To determine the top 10 financial advisor firms in Dallas, SmartAsset first compiled all firms in the city that are registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as these firms all have a fiduciary duty. From that list, we removed any firms with disciplinary or regulatory problems. We also eliminated firms that don’t have financial planners or that don’t manage individual or high-net-worth individual accounts. The remaining firms were sorted from highest assets under management to lowest. A selection to the list is not necessarily indicative of any particular client’s experience.
