As Co-Founder and President of True North Advisors, Mark Gehlbach is the architect of the firm’s client experience and investment management strategies. He also oversees the financial planning and investment divisions within the company and is a voting member of the Investment Policy Committee.
Mark began his career at the Salomon Smith Barney Consulting Group. There, he was responsible for providing both investment and wealth management services to private investors, and consulting and trading services to institutional investors. While at Salomon Smith Barney, Mark received numerous accolades including the prestigious Blue Chip Council award honoring top performers.
In 1998, Mark followed key leaders who left Salomon Smith Barney to form Lockwood Financial, the first independent provider of investment consulting services in the United States. At Lockwood, Mark joined forces with long-time friend Scott Wood, providing investment advice to high wealth clients. In 2000, he and Scott launched True North Advisors.
Mark is a Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude graduate of Baylor University. Well-regarded in the investment industry, he holds the designation of Chartered Private Wealth Advisor®, awarded by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mark is often quoted and sought after as a source by professional publications such as Private Asset Management and Bloomberg Wealth Manager.
Mark joined the Salesmanship Club of Dallas in 2016 and is a member of the Program Development and Evaluation Committee. He serves on the Board for the Park Cities Presbyterian Foundation, the Parkland Hospital Investment Committee ($2B), and the North Texas YMCA Investment Committee. In his spare time, Mark and his family are actively involved in church and various community outreach programs.
