As the Associate Wealth Manager at True North, Micah Adams, CFP® is responsible for working alongside the Wealth Management team to deliver financial planning services for clients and develop solutions to complex tax, estate, retirement, and insurance issues for clients. Previously the Wealth Management Associate at Aspiriant, he brings a unique perspective to the work True North does by delivering a high level of understanding of financial planning to help provide innovative solutions for very complex portfolios.

Micah Adams is a Texas Tech graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning, and he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. A true adventurer in every way, he enjoys spending time traveling and spending time with his two dogs, Tito and Snickers.

Mike began his almost 20-year career with Evensky & Katz, gaining unparalleled experience in the wealth management industry, while also establishing himself as a respected speaker, mentor, and advisor.
Mike joined True North at the end of 2008. As a Partner and Senior Wealth Manager, Mike is widely known for his humor, empathy, practical advice, and advanced wealth management expertise. While he is a native of the Pacific Northwest, his life and career have taken him around the U.S. and overseas. Having lived in Texas for almost 19 years, Mike is proud to call Dallas/Fort Worth home.
The firm’s mission is Fulfilling Lives™, and Mike supports this by working closely with clients in finding the right solution and strategy to meet their wealth management needs. Seeing a client’s reaction to knowing they are going to be okay, is the best part of Mike’s job.
Mike is a graduate of Seattle University, where he majored in Criminology. He also is a graduate of Texas Tech University, where he acquired his Law Degree and Master’s of Science in Personal Financial Planning. Mike is a Certified Financial Planner® and former U.S. Army Officer, having served in the 82d Airborne Division and the Texas Army National Guard.
Mike currently lives in Murphy, Texas with his wife Elizabeth and three children. Mike enjoys time with family, reading, supporting the evolution of the wealth management industry, and continually learning.

As a Senior Client Operations Analyst, Danielle is responsible for overseeing client service requests, including, but not limited to, account administration and paperwork, transactions, and reporting. She is particularly involved with True North’s ultra-high-net worth families, with her primary goal being to deliver exceptional outcomes as well as a positive attitude.
Having joined the company in 2018 as a Client Service Specialist, Danielle has over four years of experience serving True North client’s, helping to solve complex issues, advocating on clients’ behalf to custodians, providing estate administration, and supporting critical business transactions. She seeks to earn client’s trust with a commitment to excellence and delivering a high level of detail at every turn.

Danielle is a graduate of Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning. While there, she served as an ambassador for the Personal Financial Planning Department, a member of Red-to-Black Peer Financial Coaching Organization, and a member of the Personal Financial Planning Association.
Danielle currently lives in Flower Mound, Texas with her husband Caleb and their dog Harper. When she’s not keeping busy serving True North families, you can find her spending time with loved ones, doing home projects, volunteering at Church, or traveling.

As a Client Operations Analyst at True North, Grant is responsible for supporting clients and advisors, and providing operational expertise. He believes that Operations requires attention to detail and an understanding of client’s needs. In his role, he aspires to exceed client expectations and provide outstanding service with every interaction.
Prior to True North in 2021, Grant developed a deep understanding of operations and service at TD Ameritrade and Charles Schwab, gaining a seasoned perspective of the financial services industry for four years.

Having joined True North in 2019, Colin is passionate about finding and delivering innovative ways to enhance the client experience for the families he serves.

Matt aspires to live up to this notion by exhibiting honesty and integrity, loyalty, objectivity, and accountability.
Prior to joining True North in 2013, Matt developed a deep understanding of investments at JP Morgan, gaining a seasoned perspective on both public and private markets.

Previously the Director of Human Resources and Communications at Tolleson Wealth Management, she brings a unique perspective to the private wealth industry by cultivating and fostering employee opportunities specific to the RIA space.

As a newly promoted Associate Wealth Manager at True North, Ryan is responsible for ensuring client’s everyday needs are personalized and exceeded. He is constantly seeking to find more strategic ways to better serve clients and advisors. Before being promoted in 2021, Ryan began his career at True North in 2016 as a Client Service Specialist, providing a seamless client onboarding experience. He brings a unique perspective to his new role, using a service-focused lens in a more interactive way, in concert with a Senior Wealth Manager, to provide comprehensive wealth and planning solutions.

As the Director of New Client Relationships at True North, Chris is responsible for developing and cultivating new client opportunities to ensure the continued growth of the firm. He also serves as the conduit between new clients and their service team, allowing the onboarding process and experience to be as seamless, positive, and efficient as possible. He believes business development requires active listening and empathy to uncover what is most important to each client. In his role, Chris seeks to develop deep relationships that are built, first and foremost, on trust.
Prior to joining True North in 2016, Chris worked at Goldman Sachs, where he served as a Private Wealth Advisor in their Investment Management Division. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Chris spent three years in the AT&T Financial Leadership Program, where he concentrated on corporate development and strategy, financial planning, and operations.

Prior to joining True North, Kellie was an Executive Director with the Private Bank at J.P. Morgan where her responsibilities included developing and implementing goals-based investment strategies, lending advice, and banking services for high-net-worth individuals and families. Earlier in her career, Kellie held positions in Treasury Management with J.P. Morgan Investment Banking and with Amegy Bank.

Claire brings varied experiences to her role, including working as a professional dancer, a barista, and a casino sign designer. As a result of this background, her approach is very eclectic, bringing a high level of creative problem solving to her everyday work.

As Partner and Managing Director of Dallas with True North, Paula is responsible for oversight of the Wealth Management and Financial Planning teams. She spends much of her time focused on driving industry-high client satisfaction levels, creating efficiencies in core process execution, and serving as project manager for various company-wide strategic initiatives. Her primary goal is to consistently deliver an exceptional service experience for our clients.
Since joining the firm in 2005, Paula has worn many different hats, including supervision of Operations, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, Compliance, and Accounting. Before True North, Paula served as Director for a Dallas-based restaurant group where she played an integral role in the company’s national expansion and eventual acquisition.
Paula successfully completed the Schwab Executive Leadership Program in 2018, which is a one-year program of personal and professional growth designed to prepare leaders to manage and grow RIA firms. The program combines premier academic curricula and faculty from some of the nation’s top graduate schools, one-on-one executive coaching, and the deep industry experience of Schwab Advisor Services.

Prior to joining True North in 2019, Adam previously worked at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor. In his role there, he was responsible for working directly with clients to develop and implement their financial plans. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Adam worked as an auditor at the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers focusing on mutual fund and alternative asset managers.

Tom Flood joined True North Advisors in 2020 as a Client Operations Analyst. In this role, he supports the Wealth Management team with the execution of client service requests, account administration, paperwork, transactions, and reporting. Prior to joining True North, Tom worked for Fidelity Investments for 24 years. Tom served as a Client Service Manager during his last 13 years with Fidelity, supporting the largest RIA firms on their platform.
Tom graduated from LeTourneau University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He also holds an MBA in Business and Financial Planning from the University of Dallas.

Mark Gehlbach is President and Co-founder of True North Advisors. Responsible for the leadership of True North’s Managing Directors, Mark also provides strategic and cultural direction for the firm’s future and advises many of the firm’s largest families and institutions. Mark oversees the Investment and Financial Planning divisions and is a voting member of True North’s Investment Committee. Mark’s 20+ years of experience guiding high net worth families in the stewardship of their resources serves as the foundation of the True North client experience.
Mark began his career at the Salomon Smith Barney Consulting Group. There, he was responsible for providing both investment and wealth management services to private investors, and consulting and trading services to institutional investors. Well-regarded in the investment industry, Mark was one of the first thirteen wealth advisors in the nation to hold the designation of Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA), awarded at University of Chicago Booth School of Business. An active member in the local and national wealth management industry, Mark is often quoted and sought after as a source by professional publications such as Private Asset Management and Bloomberg Wealth Manager.
Integral in crafting the firm’s core purpose to Fulfill Lives™, Mark purposefully encourages all colleagues to think about their daily efforts with client relationships, vendors relationships and their co-workers to ensure that every interaction is intentionally working towards this goal.

As Partner and Senior Director of Investments at True North, Brian is responsible for portfolio management and manager due diligence across all asset classes, including private investments and alternatives. He believes that successful investing requires both a willingness to look different and a humility to admit when you are wrong. Brian aspires to stay innovative in his role by performing the in-depth research necessary to build independent conviction while maintaining an open mind to different views and new information. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Prior to joining True North in 2014, Brian worked in the Public Equity group at Employees Retirement System of Texas and served as a portfolio manager on the MBA Investment Fund LLC while completing his MBA at the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business.
Brian began his career at GMAC Mortgage and over his six-year tenure developed a deep understanding of the residential mortgage and mortgage-backed securities markets, gained a seasoned perspective on evaluating and managing external managers, and created innovative solutions for the company.

Joining True North in 2021 as Manager of WAS Operations, Lakin is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of workflow between True North’s Western Alternative Strategies, comprised of alternative limited partnerships and external alternative managers. She is particularly involved in the coordination of service providers, managing fund flows, and handling investor relations.
Prior to True North, Lakin developed a deep understanding of fund operations and alternative investments during her six years at Vida Capital, a multi-billion-dollar alternative asset manager, in Austin, Texas. She held multiple roles on the Investor Relations team during her tenure.

Prior to joining the firm, Blake was a Finance Manager at Riveron Consulting, a business advisory firm in Dallas, Texas. Prior to Riveron Consulting, Blake worked at PwC, an audit, tax and consulting services firm in Dallas, Texas.

The TouchDown Club of Dallas is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of like-minded men working together to raise charitable donations and contributions through various annual events that directly benefit the Ashford Rise School of Dallas.

Blake lives in Dallas with his wife, Callie, and their two sons, Brooks and Bates, and Labrador Retriever, Chili. Dhruv Maniktala is the Chief Investment Officer at True North Advisors & Western Alternative Strategies and has over two decades of experience in the investment industry, spanning both public and private markets. Dhruv manages the initiatives of the investment team across traditional and alternative investments, including private equity, energy, real estate, and hedge funds. He also leads the Investment Committee at the firm.
Dhruv has served in various capacities across a broad spectrum of private and public markets. His Project finance and M&A roles in the private markets were focused on acquisitions of power and water infrastructure assets in Europe, Caribbean, South America and the US, including the acquisition and nationalization of the water and power assets of Jamaica. Some of his other experiences include evaluating power projects across Hungary, Germany and UK, LNG terminal and natural gas pipeline projects in South America, and water desalinization projects in the Caribbean.
During his time at Russell Investment Group, a global institutional consultant that advices on about $3 trillion in assets* for firms like AT&T, Boeing, Nestle, Toyota and Shell, Dhruv worked closely with the Chief Strategist to develop tactical asset allocation models and was the member of the research team that ranked in the top three in terms of performance amongst all Russell teams worldwide. In the public markets, Dhruv served as a VP and Equity Analyst at Wachovia focusing on domestic and international equities, and was chosen to share his business and investment insights with the CEO of the firm. He also managed asset allocation, portfolio construction, and manager selection across private and public markets at a multi-family office where he was a Principal of the firm.
Dhruv received his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the globally renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) that counts the CEOs of Google and Twitter, among others, as its graduates, and attended the University of Georgia on a full scholarship where he earned his MBA and majored in Corporate Finance, Investments and Quantitative Analysis. Dhruv is a CFA Charter holder and a member of the CFA Society of DFW. He serves on the RIA Advisory Board of Research Affiliates and is on the Investment Committee of IFG.

Jay McAuley joined True North Advisors in 2021 as Vice President of Strategic Relationships. His deep roots in the community align with our core values, culture, and strategic growth efforts. The firm’s mission is to Fulfill Lives™, and Jay supports this by providing superior service, care and attention in every interaction with our clients and community partners.
In 1992, Jay went to work at St. Mark’s School as the Director of Alumni Relations and Head Football Coach. Over the course of the next 12 years in the development office, Jay worked as Director of Major Gifts and ultimately Director of Development. The football team won two Southwestern Preparatory Conference titles and earned four runners-up trophies during this time.
In 2004, Jay moved to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation to direct the Legacy of Care Capital Campaign, the most significant portion of which assisted in supporting the construction of the Hamon Tower. In 2008, he was named President of the Foundation and in 2012 when Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation was united with the Harris Methodist Health Foundation, Jay was named President of Texas Health Resources Foundation, a position he held until February 2021.
A lifelong Dallasite, Jay McAuley graduated from St. Mark’s School of Texas in 1981 and attended Texas Tech University, where he earned four varsity letters in football and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. After graduation, Jay spent time in the oil and gas business as a field engineer for various companies while earning a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1990.
He served as the Chairman of the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association from 2016-2018 and is currently the second Vice President of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas where he has been a member since 2009. Additionally, he serves on the Board of the CC Young Foundation, the Executive Board of the Circle 10 Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of the Men’s Advisory Group of New Friends, New Life.
In his spare time, Jay volunteers for organizations he is passionate about in the Dallas area. Jay and his wife Jennifer have a grown son, Jake and a bulldog, Irene.

Jamil has worked in the investment industry for over 17 years, gaining experience in Private Debt, Private Equity, Private Real Assets, and Alternative Credit. Previously the Senior Investment Analyst – Private Markets at Guidestone Capital Management, he developed a passion for institutional quality private investment opportunities. He has brought this passion to True North where we focus on providing expanded access to private investments and alternatives.
As a Director of Investments – Credit and Private Markets at True North, Jamil’s primary responsibility, is helping build, execute, and manage the firm’s Western Alternative Strategies (WAS) investment offerings. Joining the firm in 2019, he brings unique perspective and insight into private investments and how they can align with and fulfill the lives of True North’s clients. In addition to his investment responsibilities, he is a voting member of the Investment Committee.
The firm’s mission is Fulfilling Lives™, and Jamil supports this by actively volunteering for various causes (both in North Texas and nationally) that help children and youth in different communities. In addition, he serves as a personal and professional mentor and on the Board of Directors for Torrey Project, a non-profit dedicated to utilizing the power of business to positively impact diverse communities and the environment.

Previously a Client Operations Associate at Fisher Investments, he brings unique problem solving and creative thinking to his client support role. Preston is passionate about finding innovative ways to implement complex portfolios and is preparing to become an Associate Wealth Advisor to further expand his role within the company.

Andrew Oberst joined True North Advisors in March 2015 as a Portfolio Analyst. Promoted to Manager of Trading in 2022, he is responsible for providing client portfolio management support to the Wealth Managers. Andrew also helps in implementing the firm’s trading and portfolio rebalancing needs.

He worked as an intern at Parry Financial where he gained experience creating client investment reports and utilizing financial planning tools.

Chris Pate joined True North in 2019 as Managing Director in our Fort Worth office. In addition to serving on True North’s Management Committee, his duties include ownership of True North’s Fort Worth presence and sourcing/evaluating private investment opportunities for clients of the firm. He is also a voting member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee.
Prior to True North, Chris spent eight years managing the investment activities for Western Commerce Group in Fort Worth. His responsibilities included oversight of both public markets and private investments within Western’s investment advisory operations, including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and hard assets.
Before joining Western Chris spent 11 years at Q Investments, a $2.5 billion (as of 2011) Fort Worth multi-strategy hedge fund founded in 1994. He began his career at Q in the Financial Control group before spending 1.5 years on the risk team and 5+ years on the trading desk, eventually overseeing equities trading and financing operations for the firm. Chris also managed the firm’s recruiting operations and administrative staff and spearheaded several restructuring initiatives within portfolio company holdings during his tenure at Q Investments.

As Director of Client Operations, Vanessa is responsible for overseeing the Client Operations and Onboarding Team, including client account administration, new client onboarding, and custodial relationships. She is particularly involved with the strategic positioning of the firm’s client operations by leveraging current talent and technology, with her primary goal being to create efficiency and scalability. With over 13 years of experience in wealth management, Vanessa is passionate about leading her team to fulfill the firm’s core values, develop deep skillsets, and expand their industry knowledge to enhance the overall client experience.
Prior to taking on her role at True North Advisors in 2018, Vanessa was the Manager of Wealth Operations at Tolleson Wealth Management, where she led and contributed to the strategic planning of operational and client service initiatives.

As Partner and Senior Wealth Manager, Tara brings extensive experience in financial planning and portfolio management for high and ultra-high net worth individuals. Prior to joining True North in 2014, Tara was Senior Vice President for Carter Financial Management where she was responsible for financial planning services as well as oversight of the firm’s daily office operations. Earlier in her career, she held senior level financial and wealth planning roles at The Capital Chart Room, LTD, Wells Fargo Private Client Group and Merrill Lynch.
Tara has been listed in D Magazine: Best Financial Planners (2015-2021). She is past president of the DFW Chapter of the Financial Planning Association and FPA NexGen, and has served on the National FPA Chapter Leadership Advisory Council and National FPA Experience Task Force. She also served on the board of trustees for the Foundation for Financial Planning for seven years.

Will joined True North Advisors in 2013 and serves as Managing Director of Finance, Chief Compliance Officer, and Partner. He is responsible for managing the financial functions of the firm including budgeting, cost accounting, forecasting, ratio analysis, and other fiscal matters, which are used to formulate many of the company’s business decisions. He works directly with the leadership team to help keep the firm’s budget and financial projections on track each year.
Will brings strong accounting and auditing skills to True North. Prior to joining the firm, he was Senior Accountant at JMI Realty, a private real estate investment and development company in Austin, Texas. While there, he assisted with periodic financial reporting, cash forecasting, and cost analysis. Prior to JMI, Will was a senior auditor at Mohle Adams, a public accounting firm in Houston, Texas.
Will is a graduate of St. Edward’s University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance. In his spare time, Will enjoys traveling and any activity he can experience outdoors, from camping to rock climbing to cycling and scuba diving.

Jordan Westover joined True North Advisors in 2021 as a Client Operations Analyst. In this role, he supports the Wealth Management team with the execution of client service requests, including account administration, paperwork, transactions, and reporting.
Prior to joining True North, Jordan worked for Fidelity Investments and Deseret Mutual Benefits Administrators, servicing thousands of clients with new accounts, transactions, money movements, transfer of accounts, and preparing financial plans. While there, he developed a passion to find new ways to help educate and navigate individuals on their personal finances to improve their quality of life.

Holly B. Wilkins joined True North in January 2021 and serves as Director of Marketing. In her role, she oversees the strategic development, planning and implementation of True North’s branding positioning and marketing efforts. Holly believes Marketing at its core is about people and what drives their loyalty to a brand. Her approach is largely driven by personalized customer experiences that are engaging and purposeful. Holly also oversees the firm’s multi-channel digital campaigns, enhancing the brand’s footprint, social, advertising and media platforms, charitable opportunities, event management, and other creative projects.

Prior to True North, Holly was with Greystar Real Estate Partners for 10 years. While there, she developed and led marketing strategies in the Midwest, based out of Chicago, for over 23,000 Class A, luxury apartment units, including high-rise, mid-rise, and garden style developments, acquisitions, and strategic value-add investments.
Holly graduated from Texas Tech University, Rawls College of Business, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. Outside of her professional life, Holly spends her time traveling, going to college sporting events (especially to cheer on her beloved Red Raiders), spending quality time with family and friends, cooking and enjoying new restaurants, and attending as many live music shows as possible. Holly resides in Dallas with her husband, Drew, and mini-Goldendoodle, Max.

Scott Wood, along with Co-founder Mark Gehlbach, launched True North Advisors in 2000, with the single goal of eliminating conflicts of interest in the client-advisor relationship. As True North’s CEO, Scott is the architect of the firm’s vision, strategy and culture and is a voting member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee. He also shares responsibility for shaping the growth, profitability, and marketing of the firm.
Scott holds the distinction of being a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA), awarded by the Wharton School of Business, a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA), and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor® (CEPA).
The firm’s mission is Fulfilling Lives™, and Scott supports this by helping shape a team of advisors to understand what is most important to each client and what they’re trying to accomplish, to build a holistic plan to meet those goals, and then to deliver on that promise.

Mykael joined True North as a Client Onboarding Analyst in February of 2021. She is responsible for walking new clients through the onboarding process while making sure all of their operational needs are met. Previously a Client Account Coordinator at Fisher Investments, she brings a unique perspective to the work True North does by creating structure within the onboarding process. With a propensity for client service and efficiency, Mykael is passionate about establishing innovative ways to improve the new client experience.

Mykael is a University of Kansas graduate with a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies and minors in Business and Psychology. In addition, she serves on the board of the Dallas Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association as the Vice President of Communications.
